Network Administrator

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS or Computer Science preferred, but not required
  • Certifications (MCSE, MCP, and A+) a plus
  • 5+ years practical sever side support
  • Detailed knowledge of Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, Office 2000, XP, 2003, 2007, Active Directory, IIS, DHCP, WINS, DNS, NAT and TCP/IP
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks
  • Create and document all actions, practices, procedures and processes

Mid or Senior level DBA

We are seeking a Mid or Senior level DBA with development experience to provide database expertise and support of MS SQL Server 2000/2005 databases at our Princeton NJ headquarters office. Candidates will provide strong DBA expertise with installs, upgrades, configuration, stored procedures, triggers, security best practices, monitoring issues, performance and tuning, etc.

Software Development Project Manager

ALK is currently looking to add a Software Development Project Manager to our team. As Technical Project Manger, you will be responsible for coordinating the development, testing, and release of a family of software solutions. In this position, you will be the key development interface for Business Development, Corporate, Marketing, Quality Assurance, Operations, Sales and Technical Support. Responsibilities include the development and maintenance of product schedules and road maps, tasking allocated resources, and the specification and design of product features.

Qualifications:

Generally focused on: Product installation scripts; User Interface programming; large-scale data manipulation; map rendering through graphics. Software Engineer (Unix/C++)

Position Description: As a member of ALK’s PC*MILER development team you will be exposed to a variety of cutting edge hardware and technology.  Our Software Engineers design, write, develop, modify, debug, and implement software applications for transportation logistics.  You will participate in all aspects of the development life cycle.

Requirements: We are looking for an experienced (5-7 years) C/C++ developer with deep knowledge of the UNIX operating system in its various forms - Linux, HP, SCO, AIX.  Developer will be the primary resource supporting navigation and logistics software on those platforms.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • porting of logic and data from MS environments to UNIX for annual product release
  • creation of installation package for release
  • creation of new product features and functionality, including design, documentation and implementation
  • support of customer issues and patch releases
  • support of the same logistics software in a Microsoft environment
  • Candidate should be flexible, be able to work autonomously and as part of a team, and have good verbal and written skills.
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree

Java Developer

ALK is looking for a strong Java Developer to join our team.  We are looking for someone that has strong experience in core Java programming.  This is not a web development or GUI developer position .    This candidate will design, write, develop, modify, debug, and implement software programming applications for transportation logistics primarily on mobile devices.

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of core Java development experience.
  • Multithreading experience preferred.
  • Java networking experience (sockets communications) preferred
  • Exposure to hand held devices, J2ME, or Java embedded phones very desirable.
  • Experience programming in a Windows environment preferred.
  • UML experience preferred
  • Knowledge of transportation networks a plus.

GIS Specialist

We are currently seeking a GIS Specialist to use ALK's proprietary GIS software to create, maintain, and enhance a number of transportation network database products such as: Co-Pilot and Pocket Co-Pilot (a GPS in-car navigation system) and PC*Miler (a complete software package for shippers and carriers that creates accurate routes, mileage, and maps). This position requires a BA/BS in Geography or related field. A solid understanding of spatial data concepts and mapping techniques, as well as an interest in computerized mapping is desired. Experience with Arc View, MS Access and GPS a plus.
