I'm having trouble setting up CoPilot ID. How do I fix this?
Some customers have experienced problems when entering a CoPilot ID during initial setup. To avoid this problem, please connect your iPhone to WiFi and try re-entering your CoPilot ID.
Which iPhones does CoPilot Live work with?
CoPilot Live works with GPS-enabled iPhones: 3G and 3Gs. It is not compatible with 1st generation iPhones or iPod touch.
It takes a while to get a GPS fix. How can I help this?
Your iPhone has a built-in
GPS receiver which allows it to pinpoint your location accurately on the map. It may take more than five minutes to acquire an accurate GPS position or 'fix'. CoPilot can also use your iPhone's mobile Internet connection to determine your location. This is called 'Assisted GPS', and while it is not as accurate as the GPS receiver it can help you get an initial location fix quicker.
Please note that you might not receive turn-by-turn guidance from CoPilot until you have a GPS fix.
Here's some tips for optimum GPS performance
- Make sure that your iPhone has a clear view of the sky. This will help you get a GPS fix quicker
- When you start CoPilot your position will be quickly displayed using the mobile Internet connection, however it may take more than 5 minutes to get a full GPS fix
- You may wish to wait 5 minutes to get a full GPS fix after starting CoPilot before setting off on your journey
- There is an on-screen indicator in CoPilot which shows the status of your GPS fix. This is the small flashing satellite dish in the bottom right of the driving screen.
If CoPilot does not get a fix within 5 minutes, the GPS may not be working correctly. Please turn off and then on your device.
How can I improve battery life while using CoPilot Live on my iPhone?
CoPilot Live can provide continual guidance on a full battery charge of a iPhone 3GS for more than two hours. You can check the battery level using the on-screen status indicator. Once battery level falls below 30% you will receive a warning in CoPilot. We recommend using an in-car charger to keep your iPhone charged on long journeys.
Does CoPilot Central work with CoPilot for iPhone?
No, CoPilot Central 1 or 2.0 is not compatible with CoPilot Live for iPhone. However we will make software updates available through iTunes. You can check for these through the Updates tab in App Store on your iPhone.
Can I control my music while using CoPilot?
Yes, you can access iPod control from within CoPilot Live on iPhone. Simply start your iPod before starting CoPilot. Then while using CoPilot simply press the iPhone home button twice to access the control menu.
