ALK|FleetSuite is a collection of software solutions created specifically to reduce operation costs and improve customer service. By providing information through a Microsoft-based XML-Service, ALK|FleetSuite easily integrates with your existing production environments and existing in-cab communications equipment. You have the freedom to purchase only what you need with no costly per vehicle fees.

ALK has determined that the best way to deliver direction information to our customers is through the ALK|FleetSuite Directions' XML Interface. This interface utilizes Internet-based HTTP protocol with a direct connection to a server to communicate information. The XML Interface allows the client (your software application) to request information from the server the ALK|FleetSuite Directions' XML Interface web server to send to your in-vehicle devices.

The interface supports HTTP POST, HTTP GET and SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol), but does not support the ability to push information to a client or vehicle, the information must be requested. If you need to receive a set of complete information (for instance, all the condensed text directions for an entire fleet of vehicles and drivers), you will need to setup your program to request the directions for each driver when needed. This could be initiated from a dispatch system or the driver can request directions from the vehicle via a mobile communication system.

With customized levels of text compression, automated dock-to-dock driving directions can be transmitted to the driver's in-vehicle terminal in varying degrees of detail. Through an XML Interface, cross country and/or street-level truck-specific driving directions can be sent to a driver using complete detailed directions or in a condensed format with over 90% fewer characters. When fully condensed, the direction reports generated are the lowest cost transmissions available.
