PC*MILER|FleetCommander has already proven its worth to National Freight,
headquartered in Vineland, NJ, though not quite in the way the company
first anticipated.
They knew that PC*MILER|FleetCommander would provide better routing, fewer
out-of-route miles, and improved customer service, but what surprised
them was that FleetCommander also helps land new contracts. PC*MILER|FleetCommander
combines and displays data from National Freight's truck management, communications,
and PC*MILER mapping software systems, creating a graphical map overview
of vehicles in their fleet anywhere in North America.
At the suggestion of a trucking industry computer consultant, National Freight
downloaded PC*MILER|FleetCommander onto a laptop from the Internet, put
the company's 1,200 trucks into the database, and showed it to a potential
client during discussions about a substantial piece of new business.
The client understood immediately how PC*MILER|FleetCommander's graphic display
could help closely track vehicles for excellent on-time performance, and
National Freight got the contract. Now it's part of their presentation
process when they negotiate with major shippers.

it makes operations very efficient." In fact, some trucking companies

PC*MILER|FleetCommander helps National Freight save money in several
key areas. Driver managers who each supervised 20-50 drivers can now easily
handle 50, allowing the company to add trucks without adding managers.
It's also helping them nail down "soft costs" such as significantly reducing expensive out-of-route miles (OOR). As soon as a truck goes out of route over a certain threshold, managers receive an alert. FleetCommander can display planned versus actual routes and even provide turn-by-turn driving directions for getting back on track that can be faxed or sent electronically to drivers.
PC*MILER|FleetCommander also helps streamline shipment relays, showing exactly
where a truck is and the best route to the second driver's location. National
Freight purchased PC*MILER|FleetCommander on an enterprise contract, and
now has 80 users taking advantage of its many benefits, from customer
service to operations. Each group has a customized view of the fleet,
based on their responsibilities.
