ALK OFFERS UNIX & LINUX SOLUTIONS
ALK Technologies releases Unix and Linux versions of its
advanced PC*MILER mileage, mapping and routing software.
PRINCETON, NJ - November 24, 2003 - ALK Technologies, Inc., the
industry's leading developer of routing, mileage and mapping software,
today announced the release of PC*MILER|Unix and Linux 17.0 versions of
its industry standard PC*MILER software.
"Our customers have expressed an interest in a Linux version of PC*MILER
for some time," said Kara Jo Witkowski, Product Manager, PC*MILER Solutions.
"While they could use a TCP/IP module to run a Windows-based version of
the software on a Linux platform, they wanted a version they could install
directly on the open architecture platform. We are very excited to be
moving forward with this innovative technology and to meet the demands
of our user base."
PC*MILER 17.0 for Unix and Linux applications are available on AIX, HP-UX,
SCO, Sun-Solaris and Linux. Incorporated in the newest release are a total
of 738,000 miles, including 3,500 additional North American road miles
and over 16,600 miles of highway access ramps as well as all recent North
American road openings, name changes and construction updates.

New and enhanced capabilities in the Unix and Linux versions of PC*MILER
include weight restriction data, incorporated where available in route
calculations, a Hazardous Material Restriction Update and an enhanced
53' Trailer Routing network. For Unix platforms, PCMServe is offered as
well. This tool seamlessly interfaces PC*MILER routes and mileage in
a legacy client/server application. PCMServe easily handles multiple clients,
responding to each mileage request.
PC*MILER SOLUTIONS for UNIX & LINUX
- PC*MILER - Generates point-to-point truck-specific mileage,
routes and driving directions over the complete highway system in North
America.
- NEW… PC*MILER|Streets - Generates dock-to-dock mileage and
driving directions over truck-specific routes. It includes all the features
and functionality of PC*MILER with an enhanced U.S. street-level routing
network.
- PC*MILER|HazMat - Generates point-to-point distances and driving
directions for hauling hazardous materials while ensuring compliance
with government and DOT regulations.
- PC*MILER|Connect - An integration tool that seamlessly interfaces
PC*MILER routes, mileage and reports with other transportation and
logistics management software systems.
- PC*MILER|BatchPro - A batch processing module that permits
the simultaneous processing of large volumes of origin/destination pairs,
entered as city/state combinations, latitude/longitude points or ZIP
codes.
