When I open CoPilot using my Philips GPS receiver (GPS-CP101), it says "No GPS Signal, Please Check Connections".

Follow the instructions below to edit the CoPilot preferences.cfg file that will resolve this issue.

In windows XP:

  1. Double click on My Computer.
  2. Double click on Local Disk C.
  3. Double click on Program Files.
  4. Double click on ALK Technologies.
  5. Double click on CoPilot Laptop.
  6. Double click on the APP folder.
  7. Find the preferences.cfg file, double click on this file and select to open it with Notepad.
  8. Find [GPS]. Under this category you will see a "GPSReceiver" line. Make sure this line reads "GPSReceiver"=512. If the line is not displayed like this, make the necessary changes.
  9. Click on File and select Save.
  10. Close all open windows and open CoPilot. (NOTE: you should not have to go through the setup of the GPS, it should automatically be recognized.)

In Windows Vista:

  1. Click on Start and select Computer.
  2. Double click on Local Disk C.
  3. Double click on Users.
  4. Double click on Public.
  5. Double click on Public Apps.
  6. Double click on ALK Technologies.
  7. Double click on CoPilot Laptop.
  8. Double click on the APP folder.
  9. Find the preferences.cfg file, double click on this file and select to open it with Notepad.
  10. Find [GPS]. Under this category you will see a "GPSReceiver" line. Make sure this line reads "GPSReceiver"=512. If the line is not displayed like this, make the necessary changes.
  11. Click on File and select Save.
  12. lose all open windows and open CoPilot. (NOTE: you should not have to go through the setup of the GPS, it should automatically be recognized.)
