1. Why does CoPilot try to open AOL (or another Internet browser) every time I try to open it?

Answer: After CoPilot detects several GPS tracks it asks you if you want to send them to ALK to help update our map data. Part of this process attempts to open a web browser.

  1. Here is how to stop CoPilot from trying to open AOL every time you open it:
    • Go to Start menu > Search (or Find).
    • Search your hard drive for all files called “*.gps”. These are your GPS tracks.
    • After your computer has finished searching, select all these GPS (*.gps) files and cut and paste them to your desktop.
    • Open CoPilot.
    • In Planning Mode, go to > Tools menu > Options, and click on the Interface tab.
    • Uncheck Show Submit GPS files dialog.
    • Click OK.
    • CoPilot will no longer try to open AOL, even after you create more GPS tracks.

We would still appreciate your GPS tracks so we can make our maps as accurate as possible. Attach your GPS tracks to an email to ccptrax@travroute.com.

By default, your GPS tracks get saved in C:\Program Files\CoPilot\Laptop8\GPSTrack.
