On a round-trip, why are routes and distances sometimes different in the two directions?

PC*MILER 17 and higher routing is more realistic than in previous versions, by incorporating ramp distances, partial interchanges, one-way ramps, one-way streets, one-way tolls, by favoring right turns over left turns and gentle turns over sharp turns. For any of these reasons, the route and distances on the outbound portion of a round-trip can be different from the return portion.
