PC*MILER: Updates & Patches !!!TECH ALERT!!! 03/18/08 For Windows and AS/400 Users, this Tech Alert is in response to the temporary road closure of I-95 in Philadelphia . The Pennsylvania DOT has set up a temporary construction event just north of the city center where the highway has been closed and detoured in both directions between Girard Avenue (Exit 23) and Allegheny Avenue (Exit 25) due to a large crack in a concrete support column. They have announced that this detour is only temporary and they expect to have this problem corrected in a few short days. For those who heavily travel in the Northeast Corridor using I-95 in Philadelphia and are running PC*MILER 21.0 or 21.1, you can download a routing override patch to route around this temporary construction event. Save the file to ANY computer that has PC*MILER installed (workstations or server). It will check the installation directory and copy two necessary files. When it is finished, there should be a default.ovr file in the \pmw210\na\options directory and an alk_ovrdmgr.dll file in the \pmw210\app directory. FILE An alternative to downloading this routing data patch is to manage this temporary construction event through the Avoid/Favor Feature to safely reroute vehicles around closed areas of highways and roadways. Click here for instructions. PLEASE NOTE: When the Pennsylvania DOT lifts this temporary construction event, please remove the override patch and/or the Avoid/Favor settings entered.
NOTE: You must have a program to unzip files such as Izarc (free) to extract any .zip files below. !!!Tech Alert!!! 2/2/08 If you have recently received PC*MILER 21.1 and you have made a change to the default options, and the program will no longer geocode any location, you will need the patch below. If the program geocodes stops after making a change to the default options, then you will not need this. If you have Connect, Mapping or Batchpro you will need the patches for those as well: If you have received PC*MILER 21.1 PRIOR to 10/2/07 and you have a network install of PC*MILER, you will need to download the updated install script for the network installations. Extract the contents of the zip file to the \pmw211\network dirctory ON THE SERVER and replace the existing file. Then, rerun the workstation setup on each client and it will fix a problem with the workstation installation. You only need to do this if you are having problems with the workstations after running the install and only if you have received the 21.1 cd prior to 10/2/07. For PC*MILER 21.0 Users In response to the recent Minnesota I-35 West Bridge collapse, PC*MILER has updated its highway database to reflect the recent road closure. All users of PC*MILER 20.0, 20.1, and 21.0 (includes ALK|FleetSuite Tolls users) are encouraged to download a critical routing data patch posted to ALK’s Website Support Center. We highly recommend that all users download this patch today! Save the file to ANY computer that has PC*MILER installed (workstations or server). It will check the installation directory and copy two necessary files. When it is finished, there should be a default.ovr file in the \pmw210(tolls210)\na\options directory and an alk_ovrdmgr.dll file in the \pmw210(tolls210)\app directory. This patch fixes the following issues:
pcm21_wkstn.exe - Contains a batch file, some missing font files, and the Microsoft Runtime Library files that are necessary to run our application properly. These are set to unzip to the c:\program files\alk technologies\pmw210\app directory (default installation directory). After it extracts, it will run the batch file which will launch several pieces. It will import something into the registry (adding a DWord value to our registry key) and run the vcredist (runtime libraries) setup program. Follow the on-screen prompts.
PC*MILER 21.0 Trial CD licensing fix If you are getting Failed to Initialize or ALK License Record Not Found, you need to download and run the file below. Save this file on the computer having the problem, in any directory easily accessible (desktop, c:\, 'My Documents', etc). Double click on the file, and hit 'Unzip'. Do not change the directory. After it unzips the files, it will run a batch file that will copy some files over to the proper locations, and run licwipe.exe, a utility that will fix the licensing problem. A screen will appear that has a 5 digit 'Instance Code'. Call PC*MILER Tech Support with that number, and we will give you the 'Verification Code' to repair the license. | |
