Why do some locations in PC*MILER|Rail have SPLC codes and others don't? For example Lorenzo, IL. This is a typical example of how PC*MILER|Rail identifies carriers (railroads) that have actual stations on lines as opposed to carriers that run across the line but do not have stations on them. Using the example below, a SPLC is shown for the BNSF choice, meaning that BNSF actually has a station at Lorenzo. UP, on the other hand, comes up with no SPLC. This tells the customer that UP does/can go through Lorenzo on BNSF's line (by way of trackage/haulage rights), but it does not have an actual station that is recognized by the Official Railroad Station List. PC*MILER|Rail will still allow the customer to route to Lorenzo on UP if he/she so desires. | |
