1. How do I establish a Partnership between my PC and Pocket PC?

Please note TravRoute is not responsible for establishing a partnership between your PC and Pocket PC. This is a Microsoft program.

  1. First push the Reset button on you Pocket PC so it restarts. It's usually a small button on the back of the device. This ensures that the device is ready to establish a relationship with your PC.
  2. Next connect the Cradle that came with your Pocket PC to your computer and place the Pocket PC in the cradle.
  3. Insert the Microsoft ActiveSync CD into your PC. If you do not have autostart activated double click on My Computer and then double click on your CD-ROM drive to begin the installation process.
  4. The Microsoft ActiveSync installation wizard will begin the process, click Next in the first screen.
  5. The next screen shows where the installation folders will be saved to. If the default location is OK click Next. If you would like to change the location, simply click on Change and make your selection, then click Next.
  6. The next screen is the "Get Connected" screen. Click Next.
    • Once you click Next, ActiveSync will search for a connected device through your Com Ports and USB port.
    • If you have connected the Pocket PC cradle to your PC using a serial cable you may have to make an adjustment to in your Pocket PC to make the connection. Some Pocket PC's are set to USB by default. This program is located in different folders in the different types of Pocket PC's.The user is responsible for finding the folder to make this adjustment. Set the serial connection at 115K.
  7. Next in the "New Partnership" screen select "Yes" and click Next to continue
  8. In the next "New Partnership" screen you are asked to select the Number of Partnerships. Make your selection and click Next.
  9. In the next screen you need to select your Synchronization Settings. Select "Files" and any other selections you would like and click Next. If you do not select Files you will not be able to download data from your PC to Pocket CoPilot on your Pocket PC.
    • A File Synchronization window will pop up explaining that a Synchronized Files folder will be placed on your desktop. Click OK. Then click Next.
  10. Next the Setup Complete screen will explain that you are ready to synchronize files between your PC and Pocket PC.
    • Please read all the information on this screen first and then click Finish
    • Note: If your device has a partnership, synchronization starts immediately. Please wait until synchronization is complete before using your device.
