4. How can I get the same amount of Points of Interest on my Pocket PC that are on my PC?
How to install the Typical/ Compact desktop POI sets to your PPC: NOTE: If you did a Typical desktop installation the POI database will contain 3,000,000 POIs and requires 160 MB of space. If you did a Compact installation the POI database will contain 500,000 POIs and requires 26 MB of space. If you do not have room for the Typical POI set, reinstall the desktop application and choose the Compact installation.
- Connect your Pocket PC to your desktop via Activesync.
- On your Pocket PC tap on Start, Programs.
- Open File Explorer on your Pocket PC: If you've stored your map data to a Storage card go to: My Device\Storage Card\Pocket CoPilot\datacd. If you've stored your map data to the Devices Main memory go to: My Device\Pocket CoPilot\datacd
- Copy the following files and paste them to a temporary folder on your desktop from your datacd folder on the Pocket PC:
- catTyp
- typ
- All of the "poi" files (6 total) This is a fail-safe; you can always copy these files back if needed.
- On your desktop double click on My Computer and open the following folder: C:\Program Files\TravRoute\PocketCP3.0\Places
- Copy the following files:
- catTyp.dat
- poi.adr
- poi.dat
- poi.gdx
- poi.nms
- poi.tdx
- poi.tst
- typ.dat
- Paste the files to the directory on your Pocket PC (see step 3). When it asks you to replace existing file say Yes to All.
- Once the files have been copied, launch Pocket CoPilot. You will now have access to all POIs in either the Typical or Compact database.
